Buel D. Rodgers, age 91, of Cullman, Al, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024. Born on March 22, 1933, Buel lived a full and honorable life, marked by dedication to his family, community, God, and country.
Buel proudly served in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (SMSGT) and concluding his military career as a recruiter. His commitment to service extended beyond his active duty, as he continued to contribute to national defense as a civil servant and civilian contractor with the Department of Defense for 30 years.
He is survived by his beloved spouse, Bonnie F. Rodgers, who stood by his side through many decades of love and partnership. Buel was a devoted father to his daughters, RaDonna Sapp and Sherry Stanovich, and son-in-law Mark Stanovich. His legacy is carried forward by his cherished grandchildren, Jared Sapp and wife Talia Sapp, Adam Sapp, Jennifer Sapp, and Josh Stanovich and wife Bobbie, as well as his great-grandchildren, Violet and Vincent Sapp, Halie Stanovich, Niven Claire Griffin, and Morgan Lively (Reese), great-great grandchildren, Scarlett Lively and Joana Lively, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Buel was predeceased by his parents, Loyd and Lizzie Rodgers, and his siblings, Benes Rodgers, Floyal Rodgers, Rosie Blalock, and Louise Speegle. He will be remembered for his unwavering strength, his gentle spirit, and his deep love for his family and country.
A celebration of Buel's life will be held at Georgia Veterans Cemetery-Glennville on 21 May 2024 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Buel's memory to The Alzheimers Association or charity of your choice.
Buel’s life was a testament to the values of service, family, and integrity. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, Buel, you will be deeply missed.
