Charles M. “Skip” Campbell, age 88, passed away on Thursday evening, December 19, 2024, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family.
Charles was born in Palastine, TX, to the late couple, Jack Coulston and Julia Potter. He served in the Airforce for over 20 years, making the rank of Special Tactical Sergeant. Charles later retired from GSU as Postmaster. He was an avid bowler, part of the American Bowling Congress Association, and enjoyed playing bingo. Charles was a Commander for many years for the American Legion, and enjoyed presenting academic achievement awards during Boys State. He enjoyed quiet time on his porch, sipping coffee and fishing, but above all else he loved time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Campbell, and his daughter, Julia Mae Barber.
Those who continue to cherish his memory include his grandchildren, Kathleen Brannen, Jessica (David) Harrelson, Chelsea (Cyril) Allen, Christopher (Brianna) Newton; great-grandchildren, Robert Brannen (Emily Hitchcock), Hailey Brannen, Julia Harrelson, Charles Harrelson, Harlie-Ann Harrelson, Connor Williams, Blakely Allen, Cylas Allen; and great-great-grandchild, Axel Harrelson; and his special cockatoo, Skipper.
Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Deal Funeral Directors. The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. with Elder Jake Futch officiating. in the Deal Funeral Directors Chapel. Interment will follow at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery-Glennville at 3:00 P.M. with full military honors.
