Charles J. Rucker, age 83, of Statesboro, GA passed away following a long-term illness on November 9, 2022, while under the compassionate care of Regency Southern Care Hospice. Mr. Rucker was on born on July 22, 1938, to the late George W. Rucker and Janie Y. Rucker in Statesboro, Georgia.
Mr. Rucker was employed with ITT Grinnell as a certified class A mechanic for 34 years before his retirement. He then decided to go back to work and was employed with the Bulloch County Board of Commissioners “Keep Bulloch Beautiful” Division for 20 years.
Mr. Rucker loved to fish and had a need for speed! He loved to not only watch boat racing but to get behind the helm himself. He won several trophies in his boat “A Wolf Amongst Sheep” on the Mercury boat racing team. Mr. Rucker also enjoyed attending church at Union United Methodist Church.
But as much as he loved working, going fast and fishing, nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He was known and will be remembered as a man who loved providing for his family and anyone he knew was in need.
Mr. Rucker is preceded in death by his father, George Washington Rucker; mother, Janie Yarbrough Rucker; sisters, Jane Kearny (J.B), Georgia Hagan (Warren), Tibbie Pelote (Buster); and brother, Bill Rucker (Mary).
He is survived by his wife, Janice Rucker of 62 years; daughter, Connie R. Newman (Roy); son, Charles “Nathan” Rucker (Alayah); grandchildren, Barrett Rucker, AJ, Abel, & Avery Jenkins; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Omie Hagan, and Dot Stewart (George); brother-in-law, Jimmy N. Conley; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 12th from 9:00 until 11:00 AM at Union United Methodist Church.
The funeral service will be held immediately after with Brother Steve Brown officiating.
Burial will be in Union United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at Union United Methodist Church, 424 Brannen Dr., Statesboro, GA 30458.
