Donita C. Smith

Donita (Cox) Smith, wife of Irvin K. Smith, of Statesboro, GA entered into eternal rest on April 17th, 2022. Donita was born June 18th, 1957 to the late Cullie Richard Cox and Sara (Hoskins) Cox. She was Mother to Joshua Caldwell, of Statesboro, GA and Ashley Thompson of Joint Base Lewis, McChord, WA. and Nana to her grandchildren, Lily, Mia, Karissa, and Kristian whom she loved with all her heart and soul.

Donita worked in the insurance industry for about 20 years. She loved to be surrounded by her family, dogs, and friends. Traveling and cooking for her family were her greatest pastimes.

Donita is predeceased by her daughter, Amanda Caldwell; sister, Deanna Elliott; nephew, Justin Elliott; and brother-in-law, Steven Shelton.

Besides her husband and children, Donita is survived by her sister, Debora Shelton; niece and nephew, Jason & Sara Shelton; son-in-law, Shawn Thompson; daughter-in-law, Kristina Caldwell; brother-in-law, Mike Elliott; niece and nephew, Jeremy & Kristen Elliott; great niece and nephew, Kaitlyn & Carter Elliott; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah & Rick Gumper; brother and sister-in-law, Frank & Michelle Thornton; and her dogs Dutchess & Luna.

Donita also leaves a host of friends and other family who she could always count on for support.

A Memorial Service will be held at Deal Funeral Directors on Friday, April 22nd, 2022 at 4:00 PM. Visitation with the family will begin one hour prior to the time of service, starting at 3:00 PM.
