Evelyn M Dickey

Evelyn Mixon Dickey, age 73, departed this life on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center due to a brief illness. She was born on December 5, 1946 in Statesboro, Georgia to Velma and Grady Mixon. She attended Georgia Southern College and taught Pre-K for over twenty years before retiring to devote her life to her family.

Being a private person, Evelyn truly lived life to her fullest through simple measures, chatting with family and friends and spending time with her grandchildren. She was always laughing and wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted mother, grandmother, and friend and was always thinking of others first.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Dale Dickey; a sister, Grace Graham and three brothers, Joe, Jerry, and Roy Mixon.

Evelyn leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, her children, Angela McDaniel (Michael), Milton Sills (Mary), Julie Dickey and Roger Wayne Dickey; nine grandchildren, Bailey and Brandon McDaniel, Dakota and Daisy Dickey, Christian Ethridge, Skylar Richey, and Blake, Ashley and Madison Sills; her brothers, Bill, Johnny, and Larry Mixon and Jesse Johnson; five great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A Graveside Service and Burial will be held Monday, August 17, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Upper Mill Creek Cemetery with Elder Jake Futch officiating.
