Frederick “Fred” Joyner, 83, of Statesboro, Ga., passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alma Joyner Miller and Thomas Miller; and his sisters, Myrtle Stokes and Annette Overstreet.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda Gail Joyner; a daughter, Teresa Coulter of Savannah, Ga; Granddaughter, Tiffany Rogers and Son-In-Law, Josh Rogers of Statesboro, Ga; and Great Granddaughter, Camden Rogers.
Fred was born in Toombs County, Georgia on September 20, 1937. He resided in Savannah, Georgia, where he met and later married his wife, Linda Gail Joyner on January 5, 1959. He spent 62 years loving and caring for her with his whole heart and raising a family.
He blessed countless people throughout his life. He was very much a giver and loved sharing with others.
Fred attended school in Toombs, County and later went to Vo-Tech night school to achieve his machinery degree. While getting his degree, he worked at Savannah Amusement Service, where he later retired after 45 years.
He had a passion for life and always enjoyed being outdoors and surrounded by nature. He loved to sit and watch wildlife, and would spend most days caring for the animals around him. He also was an avid Western movie enthusiast and always enjoyed Georgia Southern Ballgames with his best friend, David “Neil” Summerlin.
There will be a graveside service on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 2:30 at Middleground Church, 7239 Harville Road, Statesboro, GA 30458.
