Jon Barrow Latson, 74, of Statesboro, GA passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Ogeechee Area Hospice after a brave battle with bladder cancer. Jon was born on August 6, 1950, to the late Frank and Isobel Latson in Washington, D.C. He was raised in Silver Springs, Maryland and after high school graduation he attended Princeton University graduating with a bachelors and masters. He then pursued and was awarded an additional master’s degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. These degrees prepared him to begin a career in education as a school principal. His desire to educate and touch lives on a more direct level led Jon to begin teaching in the classroom.
After many years in the field of education and beginning to experience health issues, Jon decided to step away from the classroom. This led to him founding JBL Solutions where he began working as a database consultant. Jon developed several programs that were patented for school record keeping. This career change allowed Jon to continue working in the field of education.
After retiring from JBL Solutions, Jon and his wife, Jane, moved to Statesboro for a slower paced life. This newfound free time allowed Jon to discover his joy of woodworking. He enjoyed making wooden puzzles, clocks, cutting boards, and other beautiful pieces. Additionally, he took great pleasure in selling his wares at the Statesboro Farmers Market where he made many friends.
Jon was of the Christian faith and was a member at New Covenant Church in Statesboro. He also enjoyed sharing his Christian faith with his brothers and sisters in Christ at The Body of Christ in Brooklet.
