Mr. Lamar Thompson, 80, of Irwinton, GA entered into rest Monday, August 24, 2020 at PruittHealth Toomsboro. Born on August 28, 1939, Mr. Thompson was the son of the late Jessie James and Beulah Owens Thompson. He served his country in the United States Air Force, was a carpenter for more than 58 years and in many instances, in later life, used his carpentry skills to serve others without expecting anything in return.
Lamar loved the Lord and was a member of Big Sandy Baptist Church. He loved his church family as well as his family and friends—and everyone he met became a friend.
Lamar is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Lewis, James and Bill Thompson and his sister, Elizabeth Jackson.
Survivors include his wife of forty-six years, Kathy; his sons, Greg (Tammie), Chris and Andy Thompson; his sister, Linda Creamer; his brother, Charles Thompson; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, sixteen nephews, fourteen nieces and many great nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends from 11:00-11:30 AM, Wednesday, August 26 at White Springs Baptist Church in Gordon, Georgia. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM officiated by Bishop Doug Thompson and Pastor Tom Alexander. Interment will follow immediately at White Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
