Margaret Rushing Colson

Mrs. Margaret R. Colson, 85, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Brown’s Health and Rehab while under the care of Regency Southern Care Hospice in Statesboro while surrounded by her family. Mrs. Colson was born in Statesboro, Georgia on April 30, 1939. She worked as a drill press operator at Brooks Instrument in Statesboro for over 30 years before her retirement.

Margaret cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite hobby was working in the yard and cutting grass.

 Margaret was preceded in death by her mother and father, Herman and Audie Mae Rushing, of Statesboro; Her loving husband of 68 years, Benny F. Colson; and brothers, Benny Rushing of Statesboro and Ronald Rushing of Statesboro. 

She is survived by her son, Darrell (Donna) Colson of Statesboro; her grandson, Chris (Dena) Colson of Statesboro; four great-grandchildren: Devin Smith of Statesboro, Haley Colson of Statesboro, Charlie Colson of Charleston, South Carolina, and Jackson Colson of Statesboro; one great-great-granddaughter, Lily Rushing of Statesboro; Her brothers Jerry (Reanee) Rushing of Statesboro and Carl (Cathy) Rushing of Springfield, Georgia; many nieces and nephews.

 A small graveside service will be held at Middleground Primitive Baptist Church in Statesboro, GA on January 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Pastor Howard Rushing will be officiating. The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to Brown’s Health and Rehab and Regency Southern Care Hospice for the care they provided to Margaret.
