Mr. Marvin Cassedy, age 75, passed away at East Georgia Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Marvin was the son of the late Ben Cassedy and Myrtle Ackerman Cassedy. He lived in the Statesboro area all of his life except while he was serving his country in the United States Army.
A painter by trade, Marvin, enjoyed seeing the transformation when he had completed a job. Outdoors was where he was happiest--whether farming the land, hunting, or fishing. He loved it all. Marvin enjoyed his friends and the fellowship at both Go-Bar Hunting Club and Statesboro Hunting Club. And he loved country music—the REAL country music, the old stuff. More recently, Marvin did progress to using some technology, or at least he enjoyed seeing what family and friends were doing on Facebook--even if he truly didn’t know how to use it.
Marvin was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Tessa; his brothers, Bennie Earl, Tommy , Raymond and Randy; and a sister, Bonnie Sue.
Marvin loved his family, and he will surely be missed. He leaves behind his sons, Russ (Stephanie) Cassedy, and Tony Cassedy; his grandchildren, Jaylen Cassedy and Justin (Leighann) Cassedy; great grandchildren, Eli and Tessa Beth and his brother, Ricky (Holly) Cassedy.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Deal Funeral Directors.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Deal Funeral Directors with Elder Randy Waters officiating. Interment will follow at Brannen Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Warren Holland, Bubba Miller, Chase Clifton, Will Hook, Jason Whitfield, and Daniel Cook. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Go-Bar Hunting Club.
