Mary Joan Skinner Jones

Mary Joan Skinner Jones, age 88, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024, at Brown’s Health and Rehab. Mary was born on January 20, 1936, to John Coleman Skinner and Alice Kennedy Skinner in Candler County. She was raised in Candler and then moved to Bulloch County as a young adult where she worked with homebound services for 14 years. 

On February 2, 1976, Mary married her husband, Frank C. Jones, Jr. They were married for 47 loving years until his passing in 2023. She was a member of Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church, the Faith Bible Study Class, Mina Franklin Circle, and the Cherokee Rose Garden Club. 

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Frank C. Jones, Jr.; parents, John Coleman Skinner and Alice Kennedy Skinner; sister, Willene Skinner Hooks; special aunt, Daisy Kennedy; and nephew, Roy Gregory “Greg” Hooks. 

She is survived by several great nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held Monday, November 18, 2024, from 11:00AM to 12:00PM at Deal Funeral Directors. 

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Deal Funeral Directors with Elder Randy Waters officiating. Burial will follow at Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
