Mary Lou Woods

July 1, 1934 — January 24, 2021

Mary Lou Woods, age 86, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021. Mrs. Woods was born on July 1, 1934 in Statesboro, Georgia. She attended Bulloch County schools, met and married her husband, Doy Edward Woods in Bulloch County and raised her family in Bulloch County.

Mrs. Woods was a homemaker who enjoyed her life’s work. And for that, God gave her the greatest blessings He gives—nine children. Later in life, Mary was able to slow down a little and enjoy some play time. She loved to play Bingo and to go fishing. She also liked to just “ride around”, especially on the dirt roads of Bulloch County. “Eating out” was another one of her greatest pleasures.

Mrs. Woods was a woman of faith and attended Sand Hill Church of God. Now, she will be with her loved ones who have gone on before her, including, her husband, Doy Edward Woods, and her sons, Roy E. Woods, Johnny Ray Woods and Donald Wayne Woods.

Surviving, Mary Lou Woods are her daughters, Rita Bryant of Millen and Patsy Suggs (Perry) of Millen; her sons, Richard Woods (Delina) of Portal, Ronald Woods (Darlene) of Akin, S.C., Billy Woods of Portal and Chris Woods (Hope) of Portal; her sisters, Sara Boucher of Akin, S.C. and Shirley Sheppard of Sylvania, fourteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 28, 2021, 2:00 PM at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Elder Jake Futch officiating.
