Maryan Hinkle Shannon, 87, passed away after a short illness on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at her home in Statesboro, Georgia with her daughter by her bedside. Maryan was born on June 30, 1933 to Earnest D. Hinkle and Martha Bugg Hinkle in Houston, Texas.
Maryan had a kind heart and was always helping others. She was a professional seamstress by vocation and most recently during the Covid Crisis, designed, sewed and donated over 4000 masks to hospitals, front line workers, military and others that needed masks across the United States.
Maryan is preceded in death by her husband, Mike Shannon; parents, Earnest and Martha Hinkle; daughter, Connie Burling; and son-in-law, John Burling.
She is survived by her daughters, Karan djordjevic (Statesboro), Terrye (Jim) Bennett (Bland, VA) and Cheryl Spackman (Statesboro); brothers, Bill (Annie) Holmes (Denver, CO), and Carl (Linda) Holmes (Anchorage, AK); 9 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Maryan’s final resting will be in Danbury, TX with a private family Celebration of Life.
