Mildred Davis

Mildred Myers Kangeter Davis, age 94, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, Georgia.

Mildred was employed by Pembroke Manufacturing Company where she was a seamstress for many years.  After retiring, she became a full time homemaker.  She was married to her first husband, B.W. Kangeter for 25 years before he passed away in 1974.  Mildred met her second husband, Lynn Davis and they were married in 1981.  Lynn and “Millie” were married for 39 years before he passed away in 2020.

Mildred was affectionately known as Aunt Sister to most and lovingly called Nanny by her grandchildren.  She loved to cook for her family and friends.  Her signature dishes included Kangeter style breakfasts, chicken and dumplings and mac n cheese.  Canning, quilting, and gardening were some of her favorite hobbies.  Mildred loved feeding her chickens, ducks, geese, and fish.  She was always accompanied by her faithful dog, Bud.  Anyone who came to visit was either offered a meal or left with some homemade goodies such as, pickles, jelly, or squash relish.

Mildred is survived by her two sons -  Edward (Shalah) Kangeter, Phillip (Sharon) Kangeter, five grandchildren – Tammy (Kevin) Turner, Glenn Kangeter, Tracy Applebee, Joshua Haire, and Chelsea Sellers, two step-daughters – Robin Davis, and Christina (Raymond) Thompson, four great-grandchildren – Kye Herman, Caleb Kangeter, Caden Applebee, and Navee Applebee, several great-great- grandchildren, one sister – Evelyn Collins, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of Deal Funeral Directors.  The family will receive friends starting at 12pm. Officiating will be her two nephews, Bobby Joe Ryals and Gary Ryals.

Pallbearers will be Tammy Turner, Glenn Kangeter, Tracy Applebee, Kye Herman, Caleb Kangeter, Caden Applebee, and Navee Applebee.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice.
